This year’s International NordWel Summer School will take place in Lund, Sweden from August 24 to August 28, 2020 and has been co-organized by the CRC 1342. Deadline for the submission of abstracts is at the end of March 2020.
The aim of the Nordwel Summer School is to stimulate discussion across disciplines and to foster innovative cross-disciplinary research on the development of welfare states over time and in a global context. The summer school brings together PhD students and established international scholars in scholarly exchange. PhD students from different disciplinary backgrounds are invited to participate in discussions on the development of welfare states, their preconditions, present status, and how we ought to study them.
The summer school is a joint venture of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University, Collaborative Research Center 1342 (CRC1342) “Global Dynamics of Social Policy”, University of Bremen, the Danish Centre of Welfare Studies (University of Southern Denmark), and the Faculty of Social Sciences at University of Helsinki.
Daniel Béland (McGill University), Ann-Zofie Duvander (Stockholm University), Jane Gingrich (University of Oxford), Pauli Kettunen (University of Helsinki), Johannes Lindvall (Lund University), Åsa Lundqvist (Lund University), Pirjo Markkola (Tampere University), Herbert Obinger (University of Bremen), Klaus Petersen (University of Southern Denmark), and Axel West Pedersen (Oslo Metropolitan University)have already confirmed their participation for either keynote lectures or as discussants or both.
