Equality at the CRC
The promotion of gender equality and family-friendly working conditions are key objectives of the CRC 1342. Those missions are based on the equal opportunities mandate defined within the Bremen Higher Education Act (Bremisches Hochschulgesetz) and on the Standards on Gender Equality of the German Research Foundation (DFG).
The CRC 1342's statutes provide for the election of an Equal Opportunities Committee (EOC) among all women researchers of the CRC. An Equal Opportunities Commissioner is then elected from among the EOC members. The EOC is composed of six elected representatives, including two professors, two postdoctoral researchers and two doctoral researchers.
The EOC is a consultative member of the CRC 1342 board and advises CRC members on all recruitment procedures within the CRC. The EOC advocates gender equality and the reconciliation of professional and family activities. It also advises and informs all members of the CRC on these issues. Additionally, the EOC is in contact with the equal opportunities networks at the University of Bremen.
Furthermore, the EOC develops concrete measures to support women researchers and CRC 1342 members with care responsibilities. For example, the EOC organises and finances career development workshops for women researchers, provides infrastructure and finances additional student assistant hours for colleagues with care responsibilities.
If you want to reach out to the EOC with any questions or concerns regarding gender equality or care responsibilities, please send an email to eoc-crc1342@uni-bremen.de.
